BTW… it’s odd coming to the realization that your daughter is a senior in high school and about to go out on her own very soon…

I can’t get past the notion that she’s still my little munchkin.

It all started when I turned out from the gravel road just barely visible on the right side of this image…

… just on this side of the bridge in the background. After turning eastbound onto the main highway I started accelerating. Not sure exactly how fast I was going (30-40mph is my best guess) when I heard a loud-ish *POP* from the engine compartment. I immediately lost all throttle control*, and within a second the engine simply stopped. At that point I promptly steered for the shoulder (as you can see by the sudden turn of the oil trail I left on the highway) and coasted to a stop.

The local cop (no shit! eating a doghnut!) came out to see if I needed anything, but I had the wrecker already on the way by the time the cop got there. After an hour and half sitting there getting chewed on by bugs (I found three ticks so far) the kid from our favorite tow company showed up.

I guess I chose a heckuva time to start using it… In any case, we’re on the latest version now, and I’ve chosen to use the default ‘theme’ with a custom image. Not sure I like it yet, but we’ll give it a chance and see how it works out.
